The 3M 7000121052 is a Scotch-Brite EXL Unitized Wheel engineered for deburring, surface finishing, and edge polishing of metal alloys, plastics, and composites. Built with a soft, conformable construction and silicon carbide abrasive, this wheel maintains consistent contact with complex or irregular part geometries. The unitized, layered design holds its shape through extended use and resists smearing, leaving cleaner surfaces with less secondary prep work. It is well suited for shop fabrication environments where controlled material removal and repeatable surface finish results are required by machinists, metalworkers, and finishing technicians.
This wheel is used in both manual bench grinder setups and automated robotic finishing cells. Its conformable consistency makes it effective for finishing curved edges, inside radii, and contoured profiles on metal alloys as well as many thermoplastics and composite materials. The silicon carbide abrasive delivers a consistent cut rate across non-ferrous metals, stainless, and hard plastics. Applications include weld seam blending, burr removal after machining, and pre-polish surface prep in light industrial and fabrication shop settings.
Designed as a unitized abrasive wheel for use on bench grinders, die grinders, and automated finishing equipment accepting 1.5-inch diameter wheel tooling.
Installation and mounting should be performed by a qualified machinist or finishing technician familiar with abrasive wheel safety practices. Always power down and isolate the grinder or spindle before mounting or removing the wheel. Verify that the grinder spindle speed rating meets or does not exceed the maximum RPM marked on the wheel or its packaging. Follow ANSI B7.1 abrasive wheel safety standards for mounting, guarding, and ring testing before operation.
