The 3M 7000120929 is a Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Film Backed Belt designed for cleaning, finishing, blending, and deburring on a wide range of materials. Built on a stretch-resistant nylon film backing, this non-woven belt maintains consistent contact with the workpiece and performs well with platen-style setups or in applications where reduced friction on the belt back is required. The aluminum oxide mineral bonded with resin into the non-woven nylon fibers delivers repeatable surface conditioning cuts. As the outer fibers wear, fresh mineral is exposed, keeping cut performance consistent throughout the belt's service life.
This belt is well suited for metal fabrication, light manufacturing, and finishing environments where technicians need a multi-purpose abrasive for surface prep or blending work. It is commonly used on stroke sanders and similar belt finishing equipment. The film backing reduces drag against platens, making it a practical choice where heat buildup or friction on the back of the belt is a concern. The open non-woven structure allows swarf and debris to escape the cutting zone, reducing loading during extended use.
Designed for use on stroke sanders, platen-style belt finishing machines, and similar equipment that accepts 3-inch wide belts in the corresponding length. Verify equipment belt size specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with abrasive belt finishing equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing belts. Confirm belt tracking and tension per the equipment manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for damage or tears prior to each use and do not run a belt that shows signs of delamination or separation.
