The 3M 7000120921 is a Scotch-Brite EXL Unitized Abrasive Wheel designed for smoothing, deburring, and surface finishing on metal alloys, plastics, and composites. The wheel measures 8 inches in diameter with a 3-inch arbor bore and features a soft, conformable construction that keeps abrasive media in continuous contact with the workpiece surface. At 3.149 pounds, it is built for bench grinder and automated fixture use. The layered, unitized structure resists smearing and minimizes heat buildup, making it suitable for work on heat-sensitive substrates. Machinists, fabricators, and finishing technicians typically deploy this wheel in production and job-shop environments.
This wheel is suited for edge deburring, blending, and finish work on ferrous and non-ferrous metal alloys as well as many plastics and composites. It performs in both manual bench-grinder setups and robotic or automated processing cells, where its conformability allows consistent contact on complex or contoured part geometries. It is available in a range of densities and grades, from soft and conformable at density 2 up to hard and aggressive at density 8, so the correct unit can be matched to the cut rate and surface finish requirement of the application.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production wheel for bench grinders and automated finishing spindles accepting a 3-inch arbor bore and an 8-inch diameter unitized wheel.
Mounting should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the grinder or spindle fully de-energized and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify that the machine spindle speed rating does not exceed the maximum rated RPM of the wheel before operation. Inspect the wheel for damage or separation before each use and do not operate a damaged unitized wheel. Use appropriate flanges and hardware as specified by the machine manufacturer to ensure secure seating on the arbor.
