The 3M 7000120773 is a Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Film Backed Belt designed for cleaning, finishing, blending, and deburring applications across metal fabrication, welding, and general surface prep work. Built on a smooth, stretch-resistant nylon film backing, the belt maintains consistent contact with the workpiece and resists elongation under load. The non-woven aluminum oxide construction allows abrasive fibers to break down progressively, continuously exposing fresh mineral for uniform cutting action throughout the belt's service life. This belt is a practical choice for fabricators, maintenance technicians, and metalworking professionals who need reliable, repeatable surface results.
This belt is suited for use on stroke sanders, wide belt sanders, and similar finishing equipment where reduced backside friction is an operational requirement. The film backing performs well over platens and contact arms. Typical applications include weld blending, scale removal, light deburring, and pre-finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces. The open non-woven structure allows swarf and debris to escape the abrasive matrix during use, reducing heat buildup and loading.
Designed for use on stroke sanders, wide belt finishing machines, and platen-based abrasive equipment where film-backed non-woven belts of 300 inch length and 6 inch width are specified.
Belt installation and tensioning should be performed by qualified metalworking or maintenance personnel familiar with abrasive belt equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking alignment before resuming operation, and confirm that belt speed ratings are within equipment specifications. Do not exceed the rated operating speed marked on the belt or equipment.
