The 3M 7000120767 is a Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Film Backed Belt designed for cleaning, finishing, blending, and deburring in metalworking and fabrication environments. This non-woven belt uses aluminum oxide mineral bonded with resin to a smooth, stretch-resistant nylon film backing. The film backing reduces friction on platen and stroke sander applications, allowing the belt to track and cut consistently without stretching. At 132 inches long and 4 inches wide, it fits standard belt grinding and finishing machines used in light industrial and manufacturing shops. Installed by machinists, fabricators, and finishing technicians.
This belt is suited for surface conditioning work on metal components in both production and job-shop settings. The open, non-woven fiber construction allows debris and swarf to escape through the gaps between fibers, reducing loading during extended use. As the fibers wear, they break down gradually to expose fresh mineral, which helps maintain a consistent cut rate across the life of the belt. It performs well on stroke sanders and platen-based finishing setups where a low-friction backing is needed to minimize heat buildup and improve belt control.
Designed for use on standard belt grinding and finishing machines that accept 132-inch by 4-inch non-woven abrasive belts, including stroke sanders and platen-style finishing equipment where a low-friction film backing is required.
Installation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with abrasive belt finishing equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Confirm the belt tracking direction arrow aligns with machine rotation before starting. Inspect the platen or contact wheel for wear or damage before fitting a new belt.
