The 3M 7000120753 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for detail finishing work across a wide range of metal surfaces. Built on a reinforced scrim backing with an open-web nonwoven construction and aluminum oxide (AO) mineral bonded with resin, this belt delivers consistent surface conditioning without the loading and heat buildup common to conventional abrasive belts. It is used by fabricators, welders, and metal finishing technicians to blend, deburr, clean, and achieve uniform grain finishes on flat and contoured workpieces. The belt measures 19 inches in length and 2 inches in width and weighs approximately 0.2 pounds.
This belt is suited for both manual and robotic belt finishing applications in shops working with stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other metals. Typical use cases include blending weld seams and grind lines, deburring edges, contour finishing on complex-shaped parts, and achieving straightline-brushed or fine surface finishes. The conformable nonwoven construction allows the abrasive to maintain consistent contact across irregular profiles, making it effective for detail work on corners, edges, and curved surfaces in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as a replacement-style surface conditioning belt for 2 inch by 19 inch belt finishing machines used in metal fabrication and finishing applications.
Installation is performed by metal finishing technicians or fabricators on belt finishing or grinder equipment rated for the appropriate belt size. Disconnect and lock out power to the machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the machine manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or damage before each use and replace if the backing or web shows signs of wear that could affect safe operation.
