The 3M 7000120719 is a non-woven aluminum oxide abrasive belt designed for surface conditioning, blending, and finishing on metal and other hard substrates. Measuring 3 inches wide by 24 inches long, it fits standard 3 x 24 inch belt sanders and finishing machines. The SC-BS series construction uses a scrim backing that resists tearing under load, and the non-woven fiber structure allows the belt to conform to irregular surfaces. Medium grade grit makes this belt suited for intermediate stock removal and surface prep where a consistent scratch pattern is required before final finishing steps.
This belt is used in industrial maintenance, metal fabrication, and trade service applications where controlled surface conditioning is needed. It handles both wet and dry operation, giving technicians flexibility when working with water-based coolants or cutting fluids. Typical applications include deburring weld seams, blending surface scratches on steel or aluminum components, and preparing pipe or fitting surfaces before coating or inspection. It is installed and used by machinists, pipefitters, metal fabricators, and maintenance technicians across light industrial and commercial shop environments.
Designed for use on standard 3 x 24 inch belt sanders and surface conditioning machines. Suitable for metal, alloy, and similar hard substrate applications requiring non-woven abrasive belts in the SC-BS series.
Install the belt with the arrow on the backing aligned to the direction of machine rotation before tensioning. Ensure the belt sander or finishing machine is fully powered off and unplugged before changing belts. Confirm the tracking adjustment is set correctly after installation and run the machine briefly at low speed before applying workpiece contact. Eye protection and appropriate PPE should be worn during operation per applicable shop safety standards.
