The 3M 7000120701 is a Scotch-Brite surface conditioning belt designed for detail work on metal surfaces. Built with a nonwoven open web construction and aluminum oxide abrasive bonded with resin over a scrim backing, this belt handles blending, deburring, cleaning, contouring, and fine finishing tasks. The open web structure reduces loading and heat build-up during extended use, delivering consistent surface conditioning results across a range of metalworking operations. It is installed and operated by machinists, fabricators, and finishing technicians working on production or detail metal finishing lines.
This belt is suited for both flat and contoured metal surfaces, including stainless steel finishing, grain setting, and straightline-brushed finishes. The reinforced scrim backing and conformable nonwoven material allow the abrasive to maintain contact with complex-shaped parts, making it effective in robotic processing environments as well as manual finishing applications. Typical use cases include removing grind lines, mill marks, and surface imperfections on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in light fabrication, sheet metal, and industrial finishing shops.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard supply belt for belt grinders and finishing machines accepting an 18-inch by 3-inch belt configuration.
This belt is installed by machinists or finishing technicians on compatible belt grinder or finishing equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension per the equipment manufacturer guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or fraying before each use and do not exceed the rated operating speed of the machine.
