The 3M 7000120690 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt engineered for surface preparation and finishing work across a range of metals. Built on a reinforced scrim backing with an open-web nonwoven construction, it uses aluminum oxide grain bonded in resin to clean, blend, deburr, and finish in a single step. The open web design reduces loading and heat buildup, extending usable belt life and delivering consistent results throughout the cut. Measuring 18 inches in length and 3 inches in width, it fits standard belt finishing machines used in fabrication and metal finishing shops.
This belt is suited for detail work on flat and contoured metal surfaces, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum. Typical applications include blending weld lines and grind marks, deburring edges, setting a brushed grain, and achieving straightline or contour finishes. The conformable nonwoven construction keeps abrasive material in contact with complex part geometries, making it effective in both handheld and robotic processing setups. Licensed metalworkers and fabrication technicians are the primary installers and users of this consumable.
Designed for use on belt finishing and surface conditioning machines that accept 18-inch by 3-inch abrasive belts. Compatible with a variety of metals including stainless steel and other ferrous and non-ferrous substrates.
Belt replacement should be performed with the machine powered off and unplugged. Verify belt tracking and tension before returning the machine to operation. Follow the equipment manufacturer guidelines for belt installation direction, as some abrasive belts are directional. Inspect the contact wheel and platen for wear before mounting a new belt.
