The 3M 7000120609 is a Scotch-Brite surface conditioning belt designed for detail finishing, blending, deburring, and surface preparation on metal workpieces. The belt uses an aluminum oxide abrasive bonded with resin onto a scrim-reinforced nonwoven open-web backing. That construction keeps the belt flexible enough to follow contours and edges while maintaining consistent abrasive contact. The nonwoven open-web structure also reduces loading and heat buildup, allowing longer operating time per belt compared to conventional coated abrasive belts. This belt measures 30 inches in length and 1 inch in width.
This belt is suited for metal fabrication and finishing environments where technicians need to blend welds, remove grind lines, deburr edges, set grain patterns, or achieve a straight-line brushed finish on stainless steel and other metals. It is well matched to robotic processing applications because the conformable backing keeps abrasive contact consistent on complex part geometries. Manual and machine-mounted finishing operations both apply. The belt handles a wide range of tasks including contour finishing, fine finishing, flat finishing, cleaning, and removing mill marks.
Designed as a replacement-style surface conditioning belt for 1 inch wide belt finishing machines and robotic finishing cells that accept 30 inch belts.
Installation is typically performed by metal finishing technicians or fabricators. Power down and de-energize the belt finishing machine before changing belts. Confirm belt tracking and tension according to the machine manufacturer guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or uneven wear before each use.
