The 3M 7000120608 is a Scotch-Brite surface conditioning belt designed for detail finishing work on a variety of metals. Built on a reinforced nonwoven open-web construction with an aluminum oxide abrasive bonded by resin over a scrim backing, this belt handles blending, deburring, contour finishing, and straightline-brushed finishes in a single tool. Its open-web structure reduces loading and heat build-up, which extends usable belt life and keeps surface results consistent across a full production run. At 34 inches long and 2 inches wide, it fits standard belt finishing machines used in fabrication and metalworking shops. Typical installers are metal fabricators, maintenance machinists, and surface finishing technicians.
This belt is suited for both flat and contoured workpieces in residential shop and light industrial applications. It excels at cleaning, blending corners, deburring edges, fine finishing, setting the grain, and stainless steel finishing. The conformable nonwoven structure allows the abrasive to maintain consistent contact with complex-shaped parts, making it particularly effective in robotic or automated belt-finishing systems as well as hand-guided operations. It removes surface imperfections, grind lines, mill marks, and other surface defects without aggressive stock removal.
Designed for use on standard belt finishing and surface conditioning machines that accept 34-inch by 2-inch abrasive belts. Suitable for use on a variety of metals including stainless steel and other ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Installation and belt changes should be performed by qualified metalworking or maintenance personnel with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the finishing machine manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or delamination before each use. Do not exceed the maximum operating speed rated for the belt and machine combination.
