The 3M 7000120601 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for detail finishing work on metal surfaces. Built with an aluminum oxide grain bonded to an open nonwoven web with a reinforced scrim backing, it handles blending, deburring, contour finishing, fine finishing, flat finishing, stainless steel finishing, and straight-line brushed finishes. The open web construction reduces loading and heat build-up, allowing for extended operating time and more consistent results run to run. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators working on metal components rely on this belt for controlled surface conditioning without aggressive stock removal.
This belt is suited for use on a variety of metals including stainless steel, aluminum, and ferrous alloys. It performs well in both manual detail work and robotic processing applications where conformability to complex shapes is required. Typical use cases include blending weld seams, cleaning mill marks, removing grind lines, deburring edges and corners, and setting consistent grain patterns on finished metal parts. It is used in fabrication shops, HVAC equipment manufacturing, and general metalworking environments.
Designed for use on standard belt finishing machines and robotic surface conditioning systems that accept 2 inch by 34 inch abrasive belts. Suitable for use on stainless steel, aluminum, and other metal substrates requiring surface conditioning.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the machine manufacturer's belt-change procedure. Power down and de-energize the belt finishing machine before replacing the belt. Confirm belt tracking alignment and tension before resuming operation. Always follow appropriate PPE requirements including eye protection and gloves when handling abrasive belts.
