The 3M 7000120599 is a Scotch-Brite surface conditioning belt designed for detail finishing, blending, deburring, and contour work on metal surfaces. Built on a reinforced nonwoven open-web construction with an aluminum oxide abrasive grain bonded in resin on a scrim backing, this belt delivers consistent surface conditioning results without the loading and heat buildup associated with conventional abrasive belts. It is used by metalworkers, fabricators, and finishing technicians in both manual and robotic processing applications. The brown color indicates the aluminum oxide grain type suited for general-purpose metal finishing tasks.
This belt is sized at 24 inches long by 4 inches wide, making it compatible with standard belt finishing machines configured for that dimension. Typical applications include blending weld seams, removing grind lines and mill marks, cleaning and deburring edges, fine and flat finishing, setting the grain on stainless steel, and achieving straightline-brushed surface finishes. It performs on a variety of metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. The open nonwoven web structure allows the belt to conform to complex-shaped parts, which is particularly useful in robotic or automated finishing setups.
Designed for use on standard belt finishing and surface conditioning machines that accept a 24-inch by 4-inch belt. Suitable for use on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metal workpieces requiring blending, deburring, or decorative finishing.
Install on a belt finishing machine rated for the 24-inch by 4-inch belt size, ensuring the machine is fully powered down and the drive wheel is stationary before mounting or removing the belt. Verify belt tracking adjustment before resuming operation to prevent edge wear or belt failure. Follow the machine manufacturer's guidelines for belt tension and speed settings appropriate to nonwoven surface conditioning belts. Eye protection and appropriate respiratory PPE should be worn during operation per applicable shop safety standards.
