The 3M 7000120565 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for detail finishing work on metals. Built with an aluminum oxide (AO) mineral bonded with resin onto an open-web nonwoven construction with scrim reinforcement, it measures 42 inches in length and 1 inch in width. The open-web structure resists loading and reduces heat buildup during operation, which extends usable belt life and delivers consistent surface conditioning results across multiple passes. This belt is a standard tool for metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, and finishing professionals working with automated or hand-held belt equipment.
This belt is suited for residential and commercial metalworking applications where controlled, repeatable surface results are required. Typical tasks include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes. The conformable nonwoven construction allows the abrasive to maintain contact with complex-shaped and contoured parts, making it well-suited for robotic processing environments as well as manual finishing setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 42 inch by 1 inch surface conditioning belts used on narrow-belt finishing machines and detail belt tools in metal fabrication and maintenance applications.
Installation is performed by metalworking or maintenance technicians familiar with belt finishing equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking direction matches the arrow marked on the belt or backing before starting the machine. Inspect the contact wheel or platen for wear before installing a new belt to avoid uneven performance.
