The 3M 7000120351 is a 1.5-inch coated abrasive disc designed for stock removal and finishing on metal surfaces. It combines 3M ceramic abrasive grain with aluminum oxide for improved cut rate and durability compared to aluminum oxide alone. The ceramic-aluminum oxide blend self-sharpens during use, maintaining consistent cutting efficiency across the disc's service life. A heavy polyester backing supports medium-pressure applications in both wet and dry conditions. A grinding aid is incorporated into the formulation to reduce heat buildup, making this disc suitable for heat-sensitive alloys including stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. Licensed HVAC, metal fabrication, and general manufacturing technicians commonly use this disc for precision stock removal and surface prep.
This disc is suited for metal grinding and finishing applications in industrial and trade environments. It performs in both wet and dry setups, making it adaptable to shop and field conditions. The Roloc-style quick-change attachment system allows fast, secure disc changes without tools, which supports productivity in repetitive or high-volume operations. At 50 grit, it is positioned for aggressive stock removal while still being capable of controlled finishing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals including stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium.
Designed for use with Roloc-style quick-change disc holders and angle grinders or die grinders fitted with compatible mandrels.
This disc is installed and removed by hand using a Roloc-compatible mandrel — no tools required for disc changes. Ensure the grinder or die grinder is powered off and unplugged before changing discs. Inspect the backing plate and mandrel for wear before each use. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves during grinding operations.
