The 3M 7000120339 is a coated abrasive disc designed for aggressive material removal and surface refinement on automotive and industrial substrates. Built on E-weight paper backing with a ceramic and aluminum oxide blend abrasive bonded with resin, this disc delivers consistent cut rate and extended service life. The open coat construction minimizes loading when working over fresh body filler, paint, or bare metal. At 8 inches in diameter with a 40 grit rating, it is suited for shaping, stripping, and scratch refinement tasks performed by body shop technicians and surface prep professionals.
This disc is used in automotive collision repair, metal fabrication, and surface preparation applications. It excels at shaping plastic body filler and putty, removing paint down to bare metal, and refining scratches prior to priming. The Hookit hook-and-loop attachment system allows fast disc changes without tools, reducing downtime during production work. Some versions in the 255U series include a 7- or 8-hole pattern to improve dust evacuation when used with compatible vacuum or dust-collection backing pads.
Designed for use with Hookit hook-and-loop backup pads accepting 8-inch coated abrasive discs. Verify hole pattern alignment when pairing with dust-extraction backing pads.
Attachment and removal of hook-and-loop discs requires no tools — press firmly onto the backup pad to seat the disc before operation. Ensure the backup pad and random orbital or disc sander are rated for the disc diameter before use. Inspect the disc for tears or edge separation before each use and replace if damaged. Follow applicable workplace safety guidelines for dust exposure when sanding body filler or painted surfaces.
