The 3M 7000120314 is a Trizact 237AA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing in metalworking applications. It uses 3M microreplication technology in which micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into three-dimensional pyramids and bonded to an X-weight cloth backing. As the pyramids wear down during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed. The result is a consistent cut rate and a predictable, fine surface finish across the full life of the belt. The belt measures 132 inches in length and 2 inches in width and is suited for both manual and automated grinding operations.
This belt is used in metalworking and fabrication environments where consistent surface finish is critical before downstream processes such as electroplating or buffing. The flexible cloth backing conforms to contoured workpieces, making it effective on parts with complex geometry. Its three-dimensional abrasive structure makes it particularly well-suited for robotic and automated finishing cells where repeatable results are required across high production volumes. Typical installers and operators include metal fabricators, toolroom machinists, and industrial finishing technicians.
Designed for use on standard belt grinding and finishing machines that accept 2-inch wide by 132-inch long abrasive belts. Suitable for intermediate finishing and fine polishing of metal workpieces prior to plating or buffing operations.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the machine manufacturer's guidelines for belt tensioning and tracking. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing belts. Inspect the contact wheel, platen, and belt guards for wear or damage prior to mounting a new belt. Always confirm belt direction of travel matches the arrow marked on the belt if one is present, and verify tracking before returning the machine to full operation.
