The 3M 7000120303 is a coated abrasive cloth belt engineered for demanding stock removal and metal finishing applications. It uses a blend of ceramic abrasive grain and aluminum oxide, a combination that cuts faster and outlasts conventional aluminum oxide belts in side-by-side production use. The heavyweight polyester backing is rated for high-pressure grinding and can be run either dry or with a liquid lubricant, making it a versatile choice for fabrication shops and maintenance operations. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup at the workpiece, which is especially important when working stainless steel and other heat-sensitive alloys. The belt measures 60 inches in length and 25 inches in width and carries an 80-grit rating.
This belt is suited for ferrous and non-ferrous metal finishing in industrial fabrication, weld blending, and surface prep work. It performs well on belt grinders and wide-belt finishing machines operating at high contact pressures. The combination of ceramic grain and grinding aid makes it a practical choice when surface temperature control matters, such as on austenitic stainless steel or thin-gauge sheet metal where heat distortion is a concern. Machinists, fabricators, and metal finishing technicians are the primary installers and users of this product.
Designed as a coated abrasive replacement belt for industrial belt grinders and wide-belt finishing machines that accept 60-inch by 25-inch belts.
Belt installation and tensioning should be performed by trained grinding machine operators following the equipment manufacturer's guidelines. Confirm the machine is fully de-energized and the belt guard is removed before mounting or replacing the belt. Inspect the contact wheel, idler, and tracking components for wear before installing a new belt. Follow applicable ANSI and OSHA abrasive wheel and belt safety standards during setup and operation.
