The 3M 7000120298 is a Trizact 237AA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing applications. It uses 3M microreplication technology, where micron-graded aluminum oxide mineral is formed into precise three-dimensional pyramids and bonded to an X weight cloth backing. As the pyramids wear during use, fresh, sharp cutting edges are continuously exposed. This self-renewing action delivers a consistent cut rate and a predictable, fine surface finish across the full life of the belt. The cloth backing provides flexibility for contouring work. It measures 132 inches in length and 3 inches in width.
This belt is used in industrial grinding and finishing operations, including robotic and automated belt grinding lines where consistent finish repeatability is critical. It is well-suited for metal fabrication applications requiring fine surface prep before plating, buffing, or coating. Typical users include metal fabricators, precision grinders, and production finishing shops working with steel, stainless steel, and nonferrous alloys. The three-dimensional abrasive structure makes it particularly effective in high-cycle automated applications where abrasive life and finish consistency must be tightly controlled.
Designed for use on belt grinding and finishing machines that accept 132 inch by 3 inch abrasive belts. Intended for intermediate finishing and fine polishing prior to plating or buffing on metal workpieces.
Belt installation should be performed by qualified personnel following the equipment manufacturer's guidelines for belt tensioning and tracking. Ensure the grinding machine is fully de-energized and the drive has come to a complete stop before changing belts. Verify belt travel direction arrow matches the machine's drive direction before starting. Use appropriate respiratory and eye protection when operating abrasive belts, in accordance with applicable OSHA and facility safety requirements.
