The 3M 7000120294 is a Trizact 237AA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing in metalworking and fabrication applications. It uses 3M microreplication technology in which micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into precisely shaped three-dimensional pyramids and bonded to an X-weight cloth backing. As the abrasive surface wears, fresh sharp mineral is continuously exposed, producing a consistent cut rate and a predictable fine finish throughout the belt's service life. The cloth backing provides the flexibility needed to conform to contoured workpiece surfaces.
This belt is suited for robotic and automated grinding lines as well as manual belt grinding operations where repeatable finish quality is required. Typical applications include intermediate stock removal and fine polishing on metal components prior to plating, buffing, or coating. The self-sharpening pyramid structure runs cooler than conventional abrasives, reducing the risk of heat discoloration on sensitive alloys. Fabrication shops, aerospace finishing lines, and precision metalworking operations are the primary environments where this belt is used.
Designed for use on belt grinding and finishing machines that accept a 132-inch by 4-inch abrasive belt. Verify belt tensioning system and contact wheel or platen specifications on the host machine before installation.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by qualified grinding or fabrication personnel following the machine manufacturer's lockout/tagout procedures before changing belts. Inspect the contact wheel or platen for wear or damage before mounting a new belt. Verify belt tracking alignment at reduced speed before returning the machine to full production feed rates. Eye protection and appropriate respiratory protection should be worn during operation per applicable shop safety standards.
