The 3M 7000120292 is a coated abrasive cloth belt engineered for demanding stock removal and metal finishing applications. It uses a blend of 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain and aluminum oxide to cut faster and last longer than conventional aluminum oxide belts. The heavyweight polyester cloth backing is built to handle high-pressure grinding and performs consistently whether run dry or with a lubricant. At 300 inches long and 6 inches wide with an 80-grit cut, this belt is sized for large-format belt grinders used in fabrication shops and industrial finishing operations. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup, which is especially important when working stainless steel and other heat-sensitive metals.
This belt is suited for metal fabrication, weld blending, and surface conditioning in both production and job-shop environments. Its ceramic-aluminum oxide grain blend delivers aggressive material removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The durable resin bond resists heat deterioration, extending belt life and reducing change-out frequency. Technicians and fabricators working with large belt grinders or wide-contact machines will find this belt effective for high-throughput finishing where consistent cut rate and belt longevity are priorities.
Designed for use on large-format abrasive belt grinders and wide-platen machines that accept 300-inch by 6-inch coated abrasive belts in metal stock removal and finishing applications.
Belt installation should be performed by trained personnel with the machine powered off and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the grinder manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage prior to each use. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling and mounting abrasive belts.
