The 3M 7000120291 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing on metal surfaces. It uses 3M microreplication technology, in which micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into precise pyramidal structures and bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed, delivering a consistent cut rate and predictable finish quality across the full life of the belt. The 132-inch length and 3-inch width make it suited to wide-belt and stroke-belt machine configurations used in production finishing environments.
This belt is intended for metal finishing applications where surface consistency is critical, including pre-plate and pre-buff preparation on steel, stainless, and non-ferrous alloys. The flexible JE-weight rayon backing conforms to contoured and flat workpiece profiles. Its consistent cut and long abrasive life make it a practical choice for robotic and automated finishing cells where belt change intervals directly affect throughput. It is also well suited to light-pressure manual and semi-automatic operations requiring repeatable, fine surface finishes.
Designed for use on wide-belt, stroke-belt, and compatible automated finishing machines accepting a 132-inch by 3-inch abrasive belt. Suitable for metal substrates including steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous alloys in light-pressure finishing applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or industrial maintenance technician familiar with belt finishing equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking, tension, and direction-of-travel arrow alignment before resuming operation. Inspect contact rolls and platens for wear or debris that could cause uneven pressure or premature belt failure.
