The 3M 7000120267 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing applications. It uses 3M microreplication technology in which micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into precisely shaped pyramids and bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed. This delivers a consistent cut rate and a predictable fine finish from the start of the belt's life to the end. It is used by metal fabricators, finishing technicians, and industrial grinding operators across production and robotic finishing lines.
This belt is suited for intermediate cut-down and fine polishing work ahead of plating, buffing, or anodizing operations. The flexible JE-weight rayon backing allows the belt to conform to contoured and complex surfaces, making it effective on curved workpieces as well as flat stock. It performs well under light contact pressure and is a reliable choice for robotic and automated finishing systems where consistent, repeatable results are required across high part volumes. A built-in grinding aid helps control heat buildup, reducing the risk of heat-related warping or discoloration on sensitive workpieces.
Designed for use on belt grinders and finishing machines that accept a 132 inch by 3 inch abrasive belt. Typical applications include metal finishing prior to plating, buffing, or anodizing on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or finishing technician familiar with abrasive belt equipment. Disengage and lock out all power to the belt grinder before mounting or removing the belt. Confirm belt tracking and tensioning per the machine manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage before each use and do not exceed the rated operating speed of the belt or machine.
