The 3M 7000119525 is a coated abrasive belt built around 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology on a YF-weight polyester cloth backing. The 984F designation indicates a ceramic alumina grain construction with an integrated grinding aid, engineered for medium to high pressure grinding on stainless steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and carbon steel. At 60 inches long and 2 inches wide with a 36-grit rating, this belt suits heavy stock removal in demanding fabrication and finishing environments. The Precision-Shaped Grain continuously fractures into fresh cutting points, sustaining cut rate across the belt life and reducing heat generation at the workpiece surface.
This belt is designed for robotic grinding cells, pressure-assisted belt grinders, and manual applications where consistent cut rate and thermal control are critical. It performs especially well on stainless steel and exotic alloys where heat-related discoloration, oxidation, or stress cracking are concerns. The YF-weight backing provides the rigidity and durability required for aggressive material removal in industrial fabrication, aerospace component finishing, and heavy manufacturing environments where belt longevity directly affects throughput.
Designed for use on belt grinders and robotic grinding systems accepting a 60-inch by 2-inch abrasive belt. Suitable for grinding stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, and nickel alloys in medium to high pressure applications.
Belt installation should be performed with the grinder powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Confirm belt tracking and tension according to the grinder manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the contact wheel and platen for wear before mounting a new belt, as irregular surfaces accelerate premature belt failure. Personal protective equipment including eye protection and gloves is required during belt changes and grinding operations.
