The 3M 7000119512 is a Cubitron II 984F coated abrasive belt built on a YF-weight polyester cloth backing. It uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology, which continuously fractures to expose sharp cutting points during use. This sustained sharpness delivers fast, consistent stock removal across heavy grinding cycles. The belt also incorporates a grinding aid that reduces heat buildup at the workpiece surface, making it well suited for medium to high pressure applications where thermal damage is a concern. It measures 15.5 inches long by 3.5 inches wide. Fabricators, weld grinders, and robotic cell operators working with demanding alloys are the primary users of this belt.
This belt is designed for grinding and finishing on stainless steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, exotic alloys, and carbon steel. It performs in both manual and pressure-assisted or robotic belt grinding applications. The combination of a stiff YF-weight backing and the Precision-Shaped Grain makes it particularly effective where consistent cut rate and reduced discoloration matter, such as aerospace component finishing, medical device fabrication, and heavy industrial metalworking. The grinding aid built into the bond helps manage heat in prolonged, high-contact-pressure passes.
Designed for use on belt grinding machines and robotic grinding systems accepting a 15.5-inch by 3.5-inch abrasive belt. Suitable for medium to high pressure applications on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, and nickel and exotic alloys.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by qualified grinding machine operators or metalworking professionals following the machine manufacturer's guidelines. Power down and lock out the grinder before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the machine specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the contact wheel and platen for wear before installing a new belt to ensure proper seating and even pressure distribution.
