The 3M 7000119480 is the 577F alumina zirconia flap disc, a coated abrasive tool designed for high-pressure metalworking on steel, stainless steel, and other metals. Built on a Type 29 angled profile, it runs at up to 13,300 rpm and combines grinding and blending into a single pass. The disc uses fast-cutting alumina zirconia mineral with a grinding aid bonded to heavyweight polyester-backed flaps, delivering more cutting power and longer service life than standard aluminum oxide discs at 40 grit. Typical applications include weld removal, beveling, and sharp-edge work.
This flap disc fits 4.5 inch angle grinders and is sized for demanding fabrication and field metalworking tasks. The 40 grit rating makes it well suited for aggressive stock removal while still leaving a blended surface finish in one step, eliminating the need for a separate finishing pass. It is used in structural steel fabrication, pipe welding preparation, and general metal conditioning work in industrial and field settings. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators working in manufacturing, construction, and maintenance environments regularly specify this disc for heavy-duty grinding tasks.
Designed for use on 4.5 inch angle grinders rated at or above 13,300 rpm. Compatible with standard metalworking applications including weld removal, beveling, and surface blending on steel and other metals.
Mounting and disc changes should be performed with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out. Verify that the grinder spindle speed meets or exceeds the 13,300 rpm rating of the disc before use. Wear appropriate PPE including face shield, gloves, and hearing protection during operation. Follow applicable ANSI B7.1 wheel safety standards for abrasive disc mounting and use.
