The 3M 7000119458 is an alumina zirconia coated abrasive belt designed for high-production grinding and finishing applications. It delivers greater cutting efficiency than standard aluminum oxide belts by pairing an alumina zirconia mineral with a built-in grinding aid that reduces heat buildup during aggressive stock removal. The heavyweight, water-resistant polyester cloth backing resists tearing and deformation under high contact pressure, making it suitable for edge work and contour grinding. This belt measures 18 inches in length and 3/4 inch in width, runs at a 60 grit rating, and is identifiable by its green color. It is installed by metalworking and fabrication professionals on compatible belt grinders and finishing machines.
This belt is well suited for use on heat-sensitive metals including aluminum and stainless steel, where temperature control during grinding is critical to preventing workpiece distortion or discoloration. The alumina zirconia grain fractures during use to continuously expose fresh cutting edges, which sustains cut rate through longer cycles and reduces the frequency of belt changes in high-production environments. It is also effective on carbon steel, exotic alloys, and other hard substrates common in fabrication and maintenance operations.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement belt for belt grinders and abrasive finishing machines that accept an 18-inch by 3/4-inch belt configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive belt equipment. Power down and de-energize the belt grinder before mounting or removing the belt. Verify belt tracking and tensioning per the machine manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage prior to each use and replace immediately if defects are found.
