The 3M 7000119206 is a 7-inch ceramic fiber disc rated at 80 grit for medium-grade material removal on metal, weld seams, and heavy stock. Built on a resinoid bond with a fiber backing, this disc delivers consistent cut rate and durability under load. The ceramic abrasive grain is self-sharpening, maintaining cut performance throughout the disc life without excessive operator pressure. Designed for use with a threaded arbor hole attachment, it is rated to a maximum of 8,600 RPM. This disc is part of the 982C series and is intended for use with the 3M TN Quick Change Backup Pad, making it well-suited for grinding and blending operations in fabrication and welding environments.
This disc is used in industrial and trade settings where aggressive surface preparation is required on metal substrates. Typical applications include weld removal, edge blending, and surface conditioning on structural steel, pipe, and plate. It is commonly installed by metal fabricators, ironworkers, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians. The 7-inch diameter suits angle grinders and right-angle grinders configured with the compatible backup pad. The maroon color coding indicates its 982C series designation and makes disc identification straightforward in a multi-product shop environment.
Designed for use with the 3M TN Quick Change Backup Pad. Threaded arbor hole uses a 5/8-11 thread size, compatible with angle grinders and right-angle grinders equipped with a matching spindle thread and 7-inch backup pad.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with angle grinder safety requirements. Verify the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 8,600 RPM disc rating before mounting. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before attaching or removing the disc. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and do not use a damaged disc.
