The 3M 7000119204 is a 5-inch ceramic fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, weld seams, and other hard surfaces. It carries a 60-grit medium-grade abrasive bonded with a resinoid bond to a fiber backing, delivering consistent cut and durability under load. The ceramic abrasive grain self-sharpens during use, maintaining cut rate longer than conventional aluminum oxide discs. Attachment is via a threaded arbor hole sized 5/8-11, compatible with a threaded backup pad. Maximum rated speed is 12,000 RPM. This disc is sold individually and is part of the 982C series.
This disc suits fabrication shops, welding operations, and metal finishing applications where a fast, consistent grind is required. Typical uses include weld blending, edge grinding, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It is designed for use with the 3M TN Quick Change Backup Pad, making disc swaps faster during production grinding. Installers and fabricators in HVAC, mechanical, and structural trades commonly use this disc on angle grinders for in-field fitting and metal prep work.

Installation is performed by trade professionals using angle grinders rated at or below the disc maximum speed of 12,000 RPM. Always confirm the grinder speed rating before mounting the disc. Power down and unplug or lock out the grinder before changing discs. Mount the disc firmly to the threaded backup pad before applying power, and inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use.
