The 3M 7000119196 is a Cubitron II 982C coated fibre disc engineered for medium and high-pressure grinding applications on carbon steel. It uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology, which maintains super-sharp triangular ceramic grain points to deliver significantly higher cut rates compared to conventional fibre discs. The result is faster material removal with less operator-applied pressure, reducing fatigue during extended grinding sessions. A stiff fibre backing combined with a strong resin bond gives the disc the structural integrity needed for demanding weld grinding, beveling, and edge work. The disc measures 4.5 inches in diameter and carries a 60-grit designation for aggressive stock removal.
This disc is suited for professional metalworking environments including fabrication shops, structural steel operations, and manufacturing lines where weld grinding and surface preparation are routine tasks. It is compatible with standard angle grinders accepting 4.5-inch fibre discs and performs in manual, robotic, and pressure-assisted grinding setups. Licensed tradespeople and industrial grinding operators working carbon steel will find the extended disc life reduces changeout frequency and associated downtime, improving throughput per shift.
Designed for use with standard 4.5-inch angle grinders in medium and high-pressure grinding applications on carbon steel surfaces including weld grinding and beveling operations.
Fibre discs of this type are mounted and replaced by grinding equipment operators following the grinder manufacturer's disc-change procedure. Always power down and disconnect or de-energize the grinder before changing discs. Inspect the backing pad for damage before mounting; a worn or damaged pad can cause premature disc failure or unsafe operation. Follow applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA grinding safety standards, including use of appropriate eye, face, and hand protection during operation.
