The 3M 7000118926 is a coated abrasive cloth belt in the 370DZ series, designed for wide belt and edge sanding applications in woodworking. It runs a premium-grade aluminum oxide mineral on an open-coat construction, which keeps the abrasive surface clear during aggressive stock removal and final finishing passes. The heavyweight cloth backing handles the tension and heat generated in wide belt machines, and a resin bond system holds the grain under high pressure and elevated temperatures for extended service life. Licensed trades and finish carpenters working production lines or shop environments will find this belt suited to both rough and finishing stages.
This belt is built for wide belt sanders and edge sanders used in residential and commercial woodworking shops. The open-coat layout and anti-static treatment make it especially effective on resinous softwoods such as pine, where conventional belts load quickly and lose cut rate. At P120 grit, it occupies the middle-finishing range, removing machine marks while leaving a surface ready for fine finishing or coating. The washable backing allows field cleaning to extend belt life when working with high-pitch species.
Designed for use on wide belt sanders and edge sanding machines that accept 60-inch by 37-inch abrasive belts in woodworking and production finishing applications.
Installation of wide sanding belts should be performed by a qualified machine operator following the equipment manufacturer's belt-tracking and tensioning procedures. Power down and lockout the sander before changing belts. Confirm belt direction of travel matches the arrow printed on the belt backing before tensioning. Inspect the platen and contact drum for wear or debris before seating a new belt.
