The 3M 7000118899 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) abrasive disc built for aggressive material removal on large-surface grinding and sanding applications. At 30 inches in diameter with a 36-grit aluminum oxide abrasive, this disc falls into the very coarse grade category, making it suited for rapid stock removal, weld cleanup, and surface preparation on metal, wood, or composite substrates. The X-weight cloth backing delivers the rigidity and tear resistance required for heavy-duty use under high-torque conditions. Installation is straightforward: peel the release liner and press firmly onto a compatible PSA platen. Licensed tradespeople and finishing professionals working with bench-top motors or random orbital sanders are the primary users.
This disc is designed for use on bench-top motors and random orbital sanders in industrial, manufacturing, and trade-shop environments. The 30-inch format targets large-diameter platens found in floor grinding, wide-belt-style bench setups, and specialty fabrication equipment. The flexible cloth construction allows the disc to conform slightly to irregular surfaces, improving abrasive contact across the work area. No vacuum holes are present, so this disc is suited for solid-platen applications where dust extraction is handled externally or not required. It is sold individually and ordered in single-unit multiples.
Compatible with bench-top motors and random orbital sanders equipped with a 30-inch PSA platen. Designed for solid-platen use; no dust-collection port alignment required.
Installation is performed by a skilled trades professional or finishing technician. Power down and de-energize the machine before replacing the disc. Peel the release liner fully and align the disc centered on the platen before pressing firmly to seat the adhesive evenly. Inspect the platen surface for debris or adhesive buildup from the previous disc, as contaminants under the backing can cause premature disc failure or uneven cutting action.
