The 3M 7000118894 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) abrasive disc designed for material removal and surface finishing in shop and production environments. It measures 12 inches in diameter and carries a 100-grit aluminum oxide abrasive, placing it in the fine grade range. The disc uses an X-weight cloth backing, which provides the stiffness and durability needed for demanding grinding and finishing passes. The PSA mount allows fast, tool-free attachment to compatible platens. Aluminum oxide cuts aggressively across a wide range of base materials and maintains consistent performance through extended use. Licensed trades and skilled fabricators rely on this disc for controlled stock removal without excessive heat buildup.
This disc is suited for bench top motor applications and random orbital sanders where a 12-inch PSA platen is used. It is commonly installed in metal fabrication shops, woodworking operations, and general manufacturing environments where consistent, repeatable surface finish is required. The flexible cloth backing conforms slightly to workpiece contours, making it useful for both flat and mildly irregular surfaces. No vacuum holes are included, so it is intended for solid-platen use rather than dust-extraction setups.
Designed for use with bench top motors and random orbital sanders equipped with a 12-inch PSA-style platen. No vacuum-hole pattern is present, so this disc is not intended for dust-extraction platen systems.
Ensure the sander or motor platen is clean and free of adhesive residue before mounting the disc. Peel the PSA liner and press the disc firmly onto the platen, working from the center outward to eliminate air pockets. Power down and de-energize all equipment before changing discs. Dispose of worn discs per facility safety procedures and inspect the platen for damage before installing a new disc.
