The 3M 7000118666 is a coated abrasive belt designed for aggressive stock removal and metal finishing in industrial and fabrication environments. It combines 3M ceramic abrasive grain with aluminum oxide in a blend that cuts faster and lasts longer than conventional aluminum oxide belts. A heavyweight polyester cloth backing handles high-pressure contact wheel and platen applications without breaking down. A built-in grinding aid manages heat buildup, making this belt especially effective on stainless steel and other heat-sensitive metals. The belt runs dry or with lubricant and is suited for use by metal fabricators, weld grinding crews, and surface finishing shops.
This belt is built for heavy-duty grinding and finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It performs well in applications where traditional aluminum oxide belts wear quickly or generate excessive heat. Typical use cases include weld blending, deburring, and preparation of metal surfaces before coating or inspection. The 60 grit designation makes it appropriate for initial stock removal where moderate surface finish is acceptable before stepping to finer grits.
Designed for use on belt grinders and wide-belt sanders configured to accept a 60 inch by 25 inch abrasive belt. Suitable for metal fabrication, weld grinding, and surface preparation applications on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Installation should be performed by qualified shop personnel familiar with abrasive belt equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension per the equipment manufacturer's specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or damage before each use and never exceed the machine's rated operating speed.
