The 3M 7000118590 is a flexible ceramic abrasive grinding wheel designed for grinding and finishing operations on a wide variety of metals. At 4.5 inches in diameter with a 36-grit ceramic abrasive grain, this wheel delivers fast, aggressive cutting action suited to production environments. The flexible construction allows the wheel to conform to contoured surfaces, reducing chatter and vibration compared to conventional rigid grinding wheels. Licensed trades and industrial operators use it primarily with right angle grinders for weld blending, stock removal, and surface preparation on carbon steel and tool steels.
This wheel is built for medium to high pressure production work where productivity and consumable longevity both matter. The ceramic abrasive grain is engineered to fracture in a controlled manner, continuously exposing fresh cutting edges. This self-sharpening characteristic extends wheel life and maintains cut rate over the life of the wheel, reducing the frequency of wheel changes during sustained production runs. It is appropriate for fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and field repair work where a right angle grinder is the primary tool.
Designed for use with right angle grinders accepting 4.5-inch diameter grinding wheels. Suitable for grinding and finishing carbon steel, tool steels, and a wide variety of metals.
Mounting and wheel changes should be performed by qualified operators following the grinder manufacturer's instructions and applicable ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheels. Always power down and disconnect or lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before each use and never operate above the rated maximum RPM marked on the wheel. Appropriate eye protection and gloves are required during operation.
