The 3M 7000118547 is a Hookita Microfinishing Film Disc in the 366L series, designed for precision surface finishing across a wide range of materials. It uses micron-graded aluminum oxide abrasive bonded to a durable polyester film backing, delivering a fast cut rate and a uniform, repeatable finish. Rated at 12000 RPM, this 5 inch disc is suited for professional finishing applications including paint prep, coating and corrosion removal, primer leveling, e-coat, and work on wood, plastic, fiberglass, solid surface composites, and metal. It is installed and used by automotive refinish technicians, metal fabricators, woodworkers, and composites finishers.
This disc is built for multi-step finishing workflows where consistent results across passes are critical. The Hookita hook and loop attachment system allows fast disc changes without tools, making it practical for production environments or field work. The load-resistant coating keeps the abrasive surface clear of dust and debris, extending disc life and maintaining cut consistency across the full service life of the disc. It is appropriate for both open coat and dust control configurations depending on the available version selected.
Designed for use with 5 inch hook and loop backup pads and rotary or random orbital tools rated to 12000 RPM or higher, suitable for finishing applications on wood, solid surface composites, plastic, fiberglass, metal, paint, primer, e-coat, and coated or corroded surfaces.
This disc is installed by pressing the Hookita hook and loop face firmly onto a compatible 5 inch backup pad mounted to a rotary or random orbital tool. Verify the tool speed rating meets or exceeds the 12000 RPM maximum before mounting. Inspect the backup pad for wear or contamination before attaching a new disc, as a damaged pad can cause uneven abrasive contact and inconsistent finish results. Follow applicable workplace safety guidelines for abrasive tool use, including eye protection and dust management.
