The 3M 7000118475 is a coated abrasive belt engineered for demanding stock removal and metal finishing applications. It combines 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain with aluminum oxide in a blend that cuts faster and lasts longer than conventional aluminum oxide belts. The heavyweight polyester cloth backing is built to handle high-pressure grinding and can be run wet or dry, making it a practical choice for a wide range of metalworking environments. At 360 inches long and 6 inches wide with an 80 grit rating, this belt is suited to wide-belt and large-format machine applications. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup, which is especially important when working on heat-sensitive metals such as stainless steel.
This belt is used in industrial and fabrication shop environments where consistent stock removal and surface finishing on metal workpieces are required. It is well suited to stationary wide-belt sanders and similar large-format grinding equipment. The ceramic and aluminum oxide grain blend performs reliably on stainless steel, carbon steel, and other ferrous metals. It can be used dry or with a lubricant, giving operators flexibility depending on the application. The reduced heat output from the grinding aid helps preserve workpiece integrity when tolerances or surface finish requirements are tight.
Designed for use on wide-belt sanders and large-format abrasive belt machines that accept a 360-inch by 6-inch belt. Suitable for stock removal and finishing on ferrous metals including stainless steel and carbon steel.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or maintenance technician familiar with wide-belt abrasive equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the belt. Confirm belt tracking and tension according to the equipment manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye and face protection, when operating abrasive belt machinery.
