The 3M 7000118457 is a coated abrasive belt engineered for demanding stock removal and metal finishing applications. It combines 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain with aluminum oxide in a blend that cuts faster and lasts longer than conventional aluminum oxide belts. The heavyweight polyester cloth backing is built to handle high-pressure grinding and can be run dry or with a lubricant, making it suited for a wide range of fabrication environments. At 132 inches long and 4 inches wide with a 60-grit cut rating, this belt fits wide-belt and stroke-sander configurations commonly found in metal fabrication shops and industrial finishing lines. A durable resin bond and integrated grinding aid help manage heat, which is especially important when working stainless steel and other heat-sensitive metals.
This belt is intended for use in industrial and commercial metalworking environments where throughput and belt life are priorities. Typical applications include weld blending, surface conditioning, and aggressive stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It is used by metal fabricators, weld shops, and finishing-line operators running belt sanders, wide-belt machines, and stroke sanders. The grinding aid reduces heat buildup during stainless steel grinding, helping maintain surface integrity and extend belt service life. This product is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 25 units.
Designed for use on wide-belt sanders, stroke sanders, and similar coated-abrasive belt machines configured for a 132-inch by 4-inch belt. Verify machine specifications before installation to confirm belt size compatibility.
Belt installation should be performed by qualified shop personnel following the equipment manufacturer's guidelines. Power down and lockout the machine before changing belts. Confirm belt tracking direction markings align with machine rotation before startup. When running wet, ensure the machine is rated for liquid use and that the work area meets applicable safety requirements.
