The 3M 7000118433 is a coated abrasive belt designed for stock removal and metal finishing on stationary belt grinders and file belt tools. It combines ceramic abrasive grain with aluminum oxide in a blend that cuts faster and lasts longer than standard aluminum oxide belts. The belt measures 24 inches in length and 1/2 inch in width, runs at 36 grit, and is built on a heavyweight polyester cloth backing rated for high-pressure contact. A resin bond system resists heat deterioration to extend belt service life. A grinding aid is integrated into the construction to reduce heat buildup when working stainless steel and other heat-sensitive metals.
This belt is suited for aggressive grinding, blending, and finishing on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in fabrication shops, maintenance environments, and production grinding operations. The 24-inch by 1/2-inch format fits narrow file belt machines and small-contact-wheel grinders commonly used for weld blending, deburring, and contour work. The belt can be run dry or with a compatible liquid lubricant, making it adaptable to both dry grinding setups and wet finishing lines. The orange backing color is standard for this 3M product line.
Designed as a replacement-style coated abrasive belt for narrow file belt sanders and contact-wheel grinders accepting a 24-inch by 1/2-inch belt configuration.
Installation is performed by abrasive finishing technicians or machine operators. Disconnect power to the belt grinder before changing belts. Confirm belt tracking and tension according to the machine manufacturer guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the contact wheel and idler for wear or damage each time a belt is replaced.
