The 3M 7000118399 Microfinishing Film Roll 372L is a precision abrasive roll engineered for high-accuracy finishing of cylindrical and flat surfaces. It features aluminum oxide abrasive grains bonded with resin to a 5 mil polyester film backing, delivering consistent cut rates and predictable surface finishes down to 9 micron grade. The polyester backing includes a friction grip coating on the reverse side for slip resistance during machine or hand operation. This roll is built for production environments where tight surface finish tolerances are required and where repeatable, uniform material removal is critical. It is used by machinists, automotive technicians, and precision grinding specialists.
This microfinishing roll is suited for precision finishing of cylindrical surfaces including automotive camshafts, crankshafts, and similar engine components. The 9 micron aluminum oxide formulation also performs on plastics, fiberglass, wood, metals, and solid surface materials. The roll format with a keyed 3 inch core allows use on powered finishing machines equipped with a matching keyed core spindle. The 8 inch width and 150 ft length make it appropriate for production-volume applications where continuous feed is required.
Designed for use on powered cylindrical finishing machines equipped with a keyed 3 inch core spindle. Suitable for finishing applications on automotive camshafts, crankshafts, plastics, fiberglass, wood, metals, and solid surface materials.
Installation and loading of this roll should be performed by qualified machinists or finishing equipment operators familiar with the specific machine manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the finishing machine is powered off and locked out before mounting or removing the roll from the keyed core spindle. Verify the core key alignment before engaging the spindle to prevent roll slippage during operation. Use appropriate eye and respiratory protection when operating abrasive finishing equipment.
