The 3M 7000118395 is a coated abrasive belt designed for stock removal and metal finishing in demanding industrial and trade applications. This belt combines 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain with aluminum oxide to deliver faster cutting speeds and longer service life compared to conventional aluminum oxide belts. The heavyweight polyester cloth backing handles high-pressure contact applications and can be run wet or dry, making it adaptable to a wide range of workholding setups. At 80 grit, it is suited for aggressive material removal while still producing a consistent surface finish on metal workpieces. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup during operation, which is especially important when working with heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel.
This belt is used in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and manufacturing environments where consistent metal finishing is required. It is well suited for grinding, blending, and finishing on steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous metals. Applications include weld seam removal, deburring, and surface preparation. The belt is compatible with standard belt grinders and finishing machines that accept an 18-inch by 1-inch belt. It can be operated with or without cutting fluid, providing flexibility depending on the material and machine setup.
Designed for use on standard belt grinders and finishing machines accepting an 18-inch by 1-inch abrasive belt. Suitable for stock removal and finishing on ferrous metals including stainless steel.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the machine manufacturer's belt tension and tracking specifications. Always power down and lock out the grinder before changing belts. Confirm belt direction of travel matches the arrow on the belt backing before operation. Eye protection, hearing protection, and appropriate respiratory PPE should be worn during use.
