The 3M 7000118200 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) abrasive disc designed for surface finishing and prep work on a range of substrates. Part of the 3M 268L Series, it uses aluminum oxide grain on a flexible polyester film backing, making it well-suited for fine finishing passes where a consistent scratch pattern and backing conformability matter. The disc measures 5 inches in diameter, carries an extra fine grade, and attaches directly to compatible PSA-style backup pads without fasteners or hook-and-loop systems. It weighs approximately 0.01 pounds. Licensed tradespeople and experienced finishers use this disc where tight surface control is required before coating or inspection.
This disc is intended for use with random orbital sanders equipped with PSA backup pads. The extra fine aluminum oxide grade makes it appropriate for finish sanding on wood, composites, plastics, and light metal surfaces. The flexible polyester film backing conforms to slightly contoured surfaces, reducing the risk of introducing high spots or uneven scratch patterns. It does not include vacuum holes, so it is best suited to applications where dust extraction through the disc is not required or where a solid backup pad is in use.
Designed for use with random orbital sanders fitted with 5-inch PSA-style backup pads. No vacuum-hole pattern is present, so use with solid (non-perforated) backup pads only.
This disc is installed by pressing the PSA-coated back surface firmly onto a clean, dry 5-inch PSA backup pad. Ensure the sander is powered off and unplugged before changing discs. Avoid contaminating the adhesive surface with oils, dust, or moisture, as this will reduce bond strength and may cause the disc to release during operation. Spent or contaminated discs should be discarded and replaced rather than reused.
