The 3M 7000088500 is a general-purpose flatback tape designed for splicing liner boards, bundling, holding, and packaging applications. Built on a paper backing with a natural rubber adhesive, this 6.5 mil tape delivers reliable performance across a wide range of shop and facility maintenance tasks. It resists moist conditions, maintains good backing strength, and is compatible with machine dispensing. Each roll measures 24mm wide by 55 meters long and carries a medium brown color for easy identification. The tape can be certified to ASTM-D6123/D6123M97 and replaces the obsolete specifications PPP-T-42C Type 1 and CID-A-A-883A.
This tape is suited for light industrial, packaging, and maintenance environments. Common applications include splicing corrugated and liner boards during converting operations, bundling components or materials for storage and transit, and securing items during packaging runs. The medium brown flatback construction tears cleanly and lays flat without curl, making it practical for both hand-application and machine-dispensing setups. Facilities handling corrugated converting, distribution, or general manufacturing operations will find this tape a straightforward utility stock item.
Designed as a direct replacement for products meeting obsolete specifications PPP-T-42C Type 1 and CID-A-A-883A. Suitable for general splicing, bundling, holding, and packaging applications across light industrial and distribution environments.
Surface should be clean, dry, and free of oils or dust before application for best adhesion. When used in machine-dispensing setups, verify roll width compatibility with the dispenser prior to loading. For splicing applications, align tape carefully before pressing down to avoid repositioning, as flatback tapes bond quickly to porous substrates. Store rolls in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight to maintain adhesive integrity.
