The 3M 7000059421 is a ready-to-use, gun-grade, latex-based elastomeric firestop sealant designed to cure upon exposure to air and form a monolithic, flexible seal. When properly installed in tested and listed systems, it provides up to 4-hour fire protection. It firestops construction joints and through-penetrations, and its elastomeric formula delivers 19% compression and extension movement capability. The sealant also functions as an acoustic barrier, with an STC rating of 56 when tested in an STC 56-rated wall assembly. This pail contains 4.5 gallons of blue sealant — no mixing required before application.
This sealant is intended for use in commercial and residential construction where passive fire protection is required at construction joints and through-penetrations in walls, floors, and ceilings. It is applied by licensed contractors, fire protection installers, and journey-level tradespeople working under building permit in assemblies that require tested and listed firestop systems. The product helps prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and noxious gases through penetrations in fire-rated assemblies, and it meets IBC and other life safety building code requirements.
Designed for use in tested and listed firestop systems at construction joints and through-penetrations in fire-rated wall and floor assemblies. Suitable for application to a full range of standard construction substrates.
Installation must be performed by qualified contractors familiar with firestop system requirements under applicable building codes, including the IBC and local amendments. Power down or de-energize any electrical systems passing through the penetration before beginning work. The sealant is applied using a standard caulk or sealant gun; follow the tested and listed system design for correct sealant depth and configuration. Do not substitute products or alter assembly details outside the scope of the listed system without engineering review.
