The 3M 7000059420 is a gun-grade, latex-based elastomeric firestop sealant designed to seal construction joints and through-penetrations in fire-rated assemblies. It cures upon atmospheric exposure to form a monolithic, flexible seal. When installed in tested and listed systems, it provides up to 4-hour fire protection. The sealant carries a 19% movement capability, allowing it to accommodate structural movement without losing its seal integrity. It is ready to use with no mixing required and is available in blue. This product is intended for installation by licensed fire protection contractors, general contractors, or other qualified tradespeople working on life-safety assemblies.
This sealant is suited for both residential and commercial construction applications. It firestops through-penetrations and construction joints in wall and floor assemblies. The product helps prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and noxious gases through penetrations. It also functions as an acoustic barrier, achieving an STC rating of 56 when tested in an STC 56-rated wall assembly. Applications requiring an L-Rating smoke seal are also supported. The sealant adheres to a wide range of construction substrates including concrete, masonry, drywall, and metal.
Designed for use in tested and listed firestop systems involving construction joints and through-penetrations in fire-rated wall and floor assemblies. Compatible with a full range of construction substrates including concrete, masonry, drywall, and metal.
Installation must be performed by qualified personnel following the specific tested system details for the assembly being firestopped. Verify the joint or penetration dimensions fall within the parameters of the listed system before applying. Clean and dry all substrate surfaces prior to application. Consult the applicable building code, including IBC requirements, and ensure the installed system is documented for inspection.
