The 3M 7000051889 is a plasticizer-resistant nylon hook fastener strip designed for secure, long-lasting mechanical attachment in environments where plasticizer migration from substrates can degrade standard adhesives. The hook side features a plasticizer-resistant PSA acrylic adhesive carried on a clear 3.5 mil polyethylene film liner. Engaged thickness measures 3.1 mm. The acrylic adhesive delivers strong bonding to high surface energy (HSE) substrates and acceptable performance on low surface energy (LSE) surfaces. Sold as a 1-inch-wide by 50-yard roll in black, this fastener is intended for professional installation in light industrial, commercial, or OEM assembly applications.
This hook fastener is suited for indoor use where substrates include painted metal, bare metal, glass, sealed wood, and many plastics. It is commonly applied in panel attachment, fixture mounting, cable management, and light assembly work where repeated open-and-close cycles are required. Medium temperature performance makes it appropriate for climate-controlled interior environments. It mates with the 3M SJ3523 loop fastener to complete the hook-and-loop system.
Designed to mate with the 3M SJ3523 plasticizer-resistant loop fastener as part of the SJ3522/SJ3523 hook-and-loop system for indoor mechanical attachment applications.
Surface preparation is critical before applying the adhesive-backed hook strip — clean and dry the substrate thoroughly to remove oils, dust, and contaminants prior to bonding. Apply firm, even pressure across the full length of the strip to ensure full adhesive contact. Allow adequate dwell time at room temperature before loading the joint. This product is intended for indoor use only; do not expose to outdoor weathering, standing moisture, or temperature extremes beyond medium-range conditions.
