The 3M 7000050134 is a PTFE-impregnated glass cloth tape designed for high-temperature heat sealing and release surface applications. Sold as Tape 5451 in brown, it measures 1.5 inches wide by 36 yards long at a 5.6 mil total thickness. The glass cloth carrier is fully impregnated with PTFE and bonded with a silicone adhesive, delivering a slick, chemically resistant surface that withstands repeated heat cycles. High tensile strength, puncture resistance, and low moisture absorption make this tape a reliable choice for production environments where consistent, easy release is critical. HVAC fabricators, industrial maintenance technicians, and packaging equipment service personnel are the primary installers and users of this product.
Tape 5451 is suited for use on heat sealing machines and process equipment where a durable release surface is needed at the sealing bar or hot-wire station. It is also applied to conveying chutes, troughs, and ducts to reduce friction and keep materials moving smoothly. The PTFE surface protects against adhesion of plastic films, packaging materials, and other heat-sensitive substrates during continuous or batch production runs. Both light industrial and heavy production settings benefit from the combination of chemical resistance and thermal stability this tape provides.
Designed as a replacement or maintenance tape for heat sealing machines, conveying chutes, troughs, and ducts requiring a high-temperature PTFE release surface.
Surface preparation is critical before applying this tape — clean the sealing bar or equipment surface thoroughly to remove oils, residues, and debris. Power down and de-energize all heat sealing equipment before applying or replacing tape on sealing bars or hot-wire assemblies. Trim tape cleanly with a sharp blade and apply with firm, even pressure to eliminate air pockets. Follow the equipment manufacturer's guidelines and applicable facility safety procedures when servicing heat sealing or conveying equipment.
