The 3M 7000050131 is a PTFE-impregnated glass cloth tape designed for high-temperature heat sealing and release surface applications. The glass cloth backing is saturated with PTFE and bonded with a silicone adhesive, producing a tape that resists most chemicals, sheds moisture, and maintains a low-friction surface under sustained heat exposure. At 8.3 mil total thickness, this is the thicker backing variant of the 3M Tape 5451 product line. It is installed by maintenance technicians and equipment service personnel on heat sealing machines, conveying chutes, troughs, ducts, and process equipment requiring a durable non-stick surface.
Tape 5453 is suited for industrial and commercial environments where heat seal bars, impulse sealers, and packaging machinery require a long-lasting release liner surface. The tape protects the bar underneath heat-wire seal points where hot wire contacts plastic film, preventing adhesion and reducing equipment wear. It is also used to line conveying troughs and ducts to keep product moving cleanly through the system. This tape is appropriate for any process equipment application requiring chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and reliable release performance over repeated heat cycles.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement and upgrade option for the thinner 3M Tape 5451; suitable for heat sealing machines, impulse sealers, and process conveying equipment requiring a high-temperature PTFE glass cloth release surface.
Installation is performed by maintenance technicians or equipment service personnel. Power down and de-energize all heat sealing or conveying equipment fully before applying or replacing tape on heat seal bars or machine surfaces. Clean the substrate surface of oils, debris, and residual adhesive before application to ensure full bond. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as distortion can compromise surface coverage and release performance.
