The 3M 7000049601 is a blue polyester tape engineered for high-temperature masking and splicing applications. It features a clean-removing silicone adhesive and a tough, non-slivering polyester backing rated at 3.4 mil (0.09 mm) thick. The silicone adhesive system withstands elevated temperatures without leaving residue, making it suitable for processes like powder coat paint masking where clean removal after cure is critical. HVAC fabricators, industrial painters, and production technicians typically use this tape in environments where conventional acrylic adhesive tapes fail under heat. It ships in roll form and has a minimum order quantity of 48 rolls.
This tape is primarily used for powder coat paint masking, where areas of a part must be protected from coating during the bake cycle. It is also well suited for splicing silicone-treated materials, such as silicone release liners, where aggressive adhesives would not bond and ordinary tapes would contaminate the splice. The 3/4 inch width and 72-yard length per roll make it practical for production-line use requiring consistent, narrow masking lines. It is equally applicable in light industrial and manufacturing environments where precise, residue-free masking is required.
Designed for use in powder coat paint masking and splicing of silicone-treated materials; suitable for production and industrial applications requiring a high-temperature, clean-removing tape in 3/4 inch roll format.
Apply to clean, dry surfaces free of oils, dust, and loose particles for best adhesion and clean removal. Remove the tape promptly after the process cycle completes, following the material manufacturer's recommended removal temperature and timing. No special tools are required for application, though a tape gun or dispenser improves consistency on production lines. Dispose of used tape in accordance with local facility waste guidelines.
