The 3M 7000049210 is a VHB flame retardant, double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for permanent bonding in applications where fire resistance is required. At 40 mil thick, the tape delivers substantial cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance while conforming to irregular and curved surfaces. A PE film liner protects the adhesive during handling and is removed at installation. The tape is black and sold in a 1-inch-wide by 36-yard roll. HVAC, electrical, and panel fabrication professionals use this product where a structural adhesive bond plus flame retardancy is necessary.
This tape bonds high, medium, and medium-to-low surface energy substrates, making it suitable for use in commercial HVAC equipment panels, electrical enclosures, transportation interiors, and signage assemblies. Its conformable foam core allows it to fill minor surface gaps and maintain a durable bond on surfaces that experience thermal expansion or mechanical vibration. It is sold by the roll with a minimum order quantity of 9 rolls.
Designed for use on high, medium, and medium-to-low surface energy substrates in industrial, commercial, and HVAC panel assembly applications where a flame retardant bonding solution is required.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and dry the substrate thoroughly before application to achieve full bond strength. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape width after placement to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive. Allow adequate dwell time before applying load or stress to the bond. This product is intended for professional installation in accordance with applicable building, electrical, or mechanical codes governing the equipment being assembled.
